The 2024 Honda Ridgeline comes close to pick-up perfection
Honda fanatics, rejoice! There’s a new SUV on the block, and it’s already turning heads – we’re referring to the 2024 Ridgeline, set to be the firm’s landmark truck for the year.
Early reviews indicate fans of the 2022 Passport TrailSport will likely be delighted with the new Ridgeline. While the TrailSport had its perks, it always seemed to fall short of excellence, and – according to some motorists – it never really drummed up the kind of excitement it should have.
Thankfully, the Ridgeline could just be Honda’s latest ace in the hole. But why?
Honda’s prestigious new pick-up drives out of the showroom with a nifty 280-hp V-6 motor, all-wheel drive, and the underpinnings you might already be familiar with via the Odyssey minivan.
This last point appears to be a pretty big deal – experts are already pointing out the smooth drive potential. It also critically means that this van genuinely handles just like a car, making it an easy drive for any Honda enthusiast.
Honda's ever-promising TrailSport was known for being very much an on-road vehicle. While the Ridgeline is best suited to the same kind of travel, the manufacturer has made sure it's a bit wilder than its predecessor this time around. Case in point—the new TrailSport trim level arrives with rugged all-terrain tires and added underbody protection for those rough-and-ready journeys.
That said, as experts claim, perfection isn’t easy, and there are a few spots the Ridgeline falls short on. For example, it only has a 5000-pound towing capacity, making it look a little weak compared to the likes of the Jeep Gladiator.
That being said, that kind of towing capacity shouldn’t put too many motorists out – but, it’s worth bearing in mind if you’re dead set on big towing potential.
Now to the important part: the price. The Honda Ridgeline is reportedly starting out at around $41,145 and can go upwards of $47,000 inside the US. Of course, the price depends on the buyer’s specific trim options – and where they buy the vehicle from!
While this pick-up is perfectly capable of going off-road and carrying what most people are likely to need on the back, it was made to be an everyday ride – and, apparently, with comfort in mind. That is why the Ridgeline comes with heated and power-adjustable front seats with fold-down armrests and a leather interior.
Overall, the Honda Ridgeline is appearing to win some people over – especially those motorists who have on- and off-road plans that vary regularly.
Experts claim that the new vehicle somehow manages to be a perfectly good off-road work vehicle and a classy enough car to take around town. It’s reportedly pretty easy to drive, comfortable for long and short journeys, and reasonable on the fuel economy.
Time will tell if this is Honda’s truck to put the firm back in the spotlight – but if early indications are anything to go by, Honda fans are already pretty happy with what’s on the way.
